Panelist Bios 

Robin Chase is a transportation entrepreneur. She is co-founder of Zipcar, the world’s leading carsharing network. In 2019, she co-founded nonprofit NUMO, a global alliance to channel the opportunities presented by new urban mobility technologies to build cities that are sustainable and just. 

Kay Cheng is an Associate Vice President and Senior Lead Transportation Planner at WSP, managing projects focused on Complete Streets, Vision Zero and transportation improvement. Previously, Kay worked with cross-sector experts to create and implement plans and policies for shared mobility operators at Spin and Lyft, with an emphasis on safety and equity programs.

Chris McCahill is the Managing Director of the State Smart Transportation Initiative (SSTI), a program from University of Wisconsin and Smart Growth America that supports U.S. sate transportation agencies committed to sustainability, equity, and transparent governance. He also serves on the Transportation Commission and the Planning Board for the City of Madison. 

Rob Viola is the Director of Safety Policy & Research at NYCDOT. He works within the Research, Implementation and Safety (RIS) unit, which identifies, designs and implements safety programs and street improvement projects on NYC’s streets, develops safety policy and manages crash data for NYCDOT.

Jeff Peel, AICP, is an Account Executive at StreetLight, where he helps government customers navigate transportation planning, reporting, and problem solving using Big Data. Prior to joining StreetLight, Jeff worked for NYCDOT and MTA delivering resilient and innovative transit projects to the residents and visitors of New York City. Jeff also has extensive experience in bicycle and pedestrian advocacy and policy, having established best practices and benchmarking criteria as part of the Bicycle Friendly America program at the League of American Bicyclists.
